Where We’ve Been!
Hi friends! It’s been awhile since I last posted anything on this website! Things just got crazy over in our household! Although I’ve used pretty pictures as my post picture, these past few months were far from a vacation!
Let me begin at the beginning. I’m breaking all this down into 3 parts: Our Trip to Ecuador, Covid-19 is Here, Back Home at Last!
Our Trip to Ecuador

On our way!
Earlier this year we decided we would visit Ecuador. Both Hubby’s and my family are from here. We haven’t been here in two years so it was finally time to go back. For personal reasons, I dreaded this trip. DREADED. With a passion. But, in due time, that dread went away.
So we came here. We visited many places. The pictures from my post title are from Salinas. A beautiful beach on the coast.

Chimborazo volcano
Little Henry knew there are volcanoes here, and he’s obsessed with them, so we were finally able to visit the Chimborazo volcano in Riobamba. The kids were so excited.

Chimborazo Volcano
Here are some pictures from the first part of our trip: a highlight of our trip was going to visit the Chimborazo volcano. Little Henry had been asking even before we left for our trip back in February, to go visit a volcano. He has been very interested in them this year.
We also visited Guayaquil: a coastal city in Ecuador. Since my parents visited for two weeks, we met up with them in Guayaquil and visited the Malecon 2000. It has rides for little kids and has a sort of amusement park feel to it. There’s also a Ferris wheel that we went on.

Enjoying ice cream crepes!
That was a lot of fun and the kids really enjoyed it. Guayaquil is really hot and humid so we were happy to stay there for only 2 days.
We also visited other lesser-known areas like Guano and Baños.
We spent time with family. The girls’ both have
godparents here so Adele’s godfather was able to spend a lot of time with her before the covid outbreak. His name is Juan and he took us to a park in Guano and to a beautiful pool as well. The water was so warm and the children really enjoyed it.
We also went to a soccer game with my parents. Little Henry really enjoyed that. Our team, Liga de Quito, won so we were happy about that. That was his first time going to a live sports event. The girls went to the mall with their dad.
Carnaval was around the third week of February. The kids never experienced this before and they LOVED it. We went to Sucua to visit my husband’s family and the kids played with water balloons and even tossed a few at people haha!
Meanwhile we continued to homeschool as much as we could. In December we had recently taken the month off so I didn’t want to take another 6 weeks off during our vacation.
Hubby and I also spent some time together Coming here at first had been so stressful for me and somewhere along the way we had several falling outs. Like, I’m talking “Get me the heck outta here before I lose my mind” type of thing. It was really bad.
But I can honestly say that we were able to get through it in the end.
Our trip back to the US was supposed to be March 16th, but two days prior the Vice Presidents decreed that no one can enter or exit the country.
Cue another reason to panic and stress for me. I am not lying when I tell you that I cried FOR DAYS! Like I was ready to leave already and then I had to stay even longer!!! I’m sorry… no!
But it happened and we’re still here.
This concludes part 1. Stay tuned for part 2: Covid-19 is Here.
